Tour of the 3rd International Symposium on Thermoplastic Composites

On November 25, 2021, the 3rd International Symposium on Thermoplastic Composites was held in Shanghai. As the leader of high-performance special engineering plastics (PEEK, LCP, PPS, PEI) films, Foshan Dafu New Material Co., LTD was invited to attend this event. The theme of the seminar is "High-performance thermoplastic composite materials help China's large aircraft soar lightly". More than 200 experts and representatives from domestic and foreign enterprises, universities and research institutes attended the conference. 

The conference is hosted by COMAC Composite Material Center and AVIC Composite Material Co., LTD. and other units .The main content of the conference is to discuss a series of design, processing and application of thermoplastic composites in aerospace field. In the field of Chinese aerospace, the current overall use of composite material is very low (composite materials account for about 20%), of which thermoset composite materials are used, while thermoplastic composite materials are just beginning to be used, and are more mature than foreign ones. In terms of application (composite material consumption exceeds 50%), there is still a long way to go. We can also predict that there is a huge space for the development of thermoplastic composite materials in this field in the future .

The thermoplastic composite material can be prepared from a prepreg composed of a thermoplastic resin and fibers. Thermoplastic resins include: PP, PE, PET, PA6, PPS, PEEK. Fiber types include high-strength fibers such as glass fiber, carbon fiber, and nylon fiber.

The latest PEEK film developed and produced by our company this year can play an important role in this emerging high-end field. Combined with glass cloth composite laminates, carbon fiber reinforced board materials, etc., the thermoplastic composite material prepared has: light weight; high quality Strength, high modulus; high toughness, fatigue resistance; high temperature resistance; corrosion resistance; wear resistance, self-lubricating; biocompatibility and thermoplastic recyclability advantages.
